Rosa "Trumpeter"

An Ardcarne favourite, this Floribunda, or Cluster-flowered rose has dark glossy foliage with rich red blooms around 6cm in diameter.

As with all roses, they prefer a fertile, humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil positioned in full sun.

When planting, dig a hole twice as wide as the pot and mix in a generous amount of compost. Ensure that the point where the rose has been grafted on the rootstock remains at soil level.

It is also well worth using something like "Rootgrow", a mycorrhizal fungus powder, when planting as this will generate strong root growth and help prevent disease.

Once the hole is back-filled, firm down the soil gently, water well and add a top dressing of general purpose fertiliser.
